Call for Presentations

The Call for Presentations and Tutorials has now closed. The CFP Committee, which consists of approximately 50% AusCERT Information Security Analysts and 50% external representatives from the Infosec community in Australia and New Zealand, will begin reviewing the papers received. Notification of the outcome of each submission will be sent on 3 March 2017, and the program will be published shortly afterwards.

Presentation Submission

The AusCERT2017 Program Committee welcomes original contributions for presentations not previously published nor submitted in parallel for publication to any other conference or workshop.

Submissions may fall under one of the following broad categories:

  • Data sharing
  • Securing Applications
  • Network Security
  • Privacy and Surveillance
  • Cybercrime
  • Embedded / Industrial Control Systems
  • Incident Response and Handling
  • Governance, Risk Management and Compliance
  • Psychology of infosec
  • Information Security Innovation

Presentation summaries should be up to a maximum of 2 pages. Submissions will only be considered if they provide a clear idea of the presentation content, key points to be covered during the presentation and are followed by the PowerPoint presentation at a later date. Your detailed submissions for AusCERT2017 need to be made prior to the Call for Presentations close on the 6 February 2017.

Please note AusCERT2017 has changed format slightly in that the actual conference part will run for two days instead of three as per previous years. This means spots will be limited on our program so please get your submissions in early and ensure they are clear and concise with indepth presentation content.

All presentations and tutorial submissions will be handled electronically.

NOTE: Submissions made by people other than a presenter/author will not be accepted, unless prior arrangements have been made.

Authors of tutorial submissions are encouraged to also provide presentation submissions as well.

Submissions promoting specific products or services will not be considered nor accepted.

AusCERT2017 requires a non-exclusive copyright license for all presentations at the conference and for the presentation material.

Presentation Selection

The AusCERT2017 Program Committee will independently select all topics and speakers based on the merit and quality of presentations. Acceptance of these submissions is at the discretion of the Program Committee which has the right to refuse any submission. The Program Committee’s decisions are final.

Assistance for selected speakers

AusCERT is able to assist in covering the travel and accommodation costs for one speaker per successful submission. The standard offer includes:

  • Return economy class airfares
  • Accommodation for 3 nights for international speakers or 2 nights for domestic speakers
  • Free registration to the two day conference (not including tutorial sessions)
  • Entitlements are for one speaker per presentation only. You are welcome to bring multiple presenters at your own cost.
